When we first saw the property, we immediately fell in love with it. We were looking for a place to make our home in India After obtaining the property, we decided that the location was too good to keep to ourselves, so we changed our plans and expanded our ideas to focus on a small resort instead. Starting in October 2012, we have embarked upon a journey that has resulted in a holiday home by the Arabian Sea.
We asked the architect Mr- Niren Jain to combine as much of local styles and trends with modernity and practicality. The result is a modern house with luxurious rooms both for ourselves and our guests. So we live the experience and try to offer you the best of it to you.
The property looks out onto the Arabian Sea, which is of course a part of the Indian Ocean. We have direct access to a 10 km long beach which stretches from Malpe in the south to Kodi Bengare in the north. It’s just 2 kms (a 20 minute walk along the beach) from the property to Malpe beach, one of the few public beaches in Karnataka with seaside facilities, rides, food shacks and restaurant. St.Mary’s island, where Vasco da Gama apparently first arrived in India in 1498, is directly outside our property.
Villa Malpe is a boutique resort (built in 2018) which is family run and contains 5 guest rooms in addition to the section which we use ourselves.. Each air conditioned guest room has its own ensuite bathroom and a verandah overlooking the ocean.
In 2020 and 2024, Villa Malpe was certified by the Indian tourism board (Incredible India) as a gold standard bed & breakfast resort. The property is under the able management of Mr Chandan Ram (Arya). The owners are Gautam and May-Kristin Ghosh.
